Choosing an art medium for the 'beginner artist' can be a challenge. This course will allow you to explore drawing, painting and mixed media techniques. Learn how to use a variety of drawing and paint mediums from gouache or tempera, oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastels, ink, charcoal, colour pencils, paint sticks and much more. Get creative and find the art medium that suits you best. Beginners and intermediate students are welcome! Approximate cost of materials $150.

Your tutor is Victoria Lowery

Victoria Lowery MA VisArt, GradDipEdSec has been teaching at WEA since April 2011.

Victoria is passionate about the creative process, and has been drawing, painting, working with textiles and designing from an early age, influenced by her father who was an artist and graphic designer. 

Victoria emigrated from Ukraine as an established artist and graduate of L’viv National Academy of Arts, and came to South Australia in 2011 after living and exhibiting her artwork in Austin, Texas in the United States for two years. 

While teaching at the WEA, Victoria completed a Master’s Degree in Visual Art and Design and Illustration and later, a Diploma in Secondary Education at UniSA. 

Victoria teaches a range of WEA art and craft courses including acrylic and watercolour painting, drawing, textiles and fibre design.
