Course Description

Build on your foundational tarot knowledge in this practical and engaging masterclass focused on reading 3-card spreads. 

Widely regarded as one of the most essential tools in a tarot reader’s practice, the 3-card spread offers a powerful and versatile way to explore questions, gain insight and provide guidance across a wide range of personal and everyday situations.

Designed for those with a basic understanding of tarot, this course will help you develop your ability to read cards with greater confidence, intuition and creativity. 

Through guided practice and discussion, you’ll learn how to interpret relationships between cards and deliver clear, meaningful readings that combine both traditional knowledge and intuitive insight.

Course Structure

This masterclass is delivered as an interactive and practice-focused session, combining explanation, demonstration and hands-on reading. 

Students begin by revisiting key tarot concepts, including the Major and Minor Arcana and Court Cards, before exploring the structure and flexibility of 3-card spreads.

Participants will work through a range of 3-card reading formats, learning how different card positions can be applied to various questions and scenarios. 

Through guided exercises, individual practice and group discussion, students will develop their ability to interpret cards both independently and in combination. 

Opportunities for sharing readings and receiving feedback help strengthen understanding and build confidence in real-time application.

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the structure and purpose of 3-card tarot spreads 
  • Apply 3-card spreads to a variety of questions and situations 
  • Interpret relationships between cards within a spread 
  • Develop intuitive and creative approaches to tarot reading 
  • Deliver clear and meaningful tarot readings 
  • Build confidence in reading for themselves and others 
  • Strengthen their understanding of the Major and Minor Arcana 
  • Continue developing tarot reading skills independently.

Course Prerequisites

A solid understanding of the 78 tarot cards is essential for getting the most out of this Level 3 Masterclass. 

It is recommended that students have completed WEA’s A Taste of Tarot course before enrolling.

Course Requirements

Students are required to bring The Rider–Waite Tarot Deck (U.S. Games edition), available from most bookstores or online retailers (approximate cost $25). 

All other materials and notes will be provided.

Martha has been teaching at WEA since 2018 

Martha Adams B.A., M.Ed. (Adult), Dip. Couns. (AIPC), Certified Business Counsellor (APEC IBIZ) CIV S.B.M, NEIS, & WPT&A, Cert. Senior RPL Consultant, Cert. RPL Assessor, Cert. Internal Auditing of Quality Systems (QAS), Company Director Cert., Dip. Comm. Art, Cert. Yin Yoga Teacher, Reiki III/Teacher, and a Dip. in Tarot (UK). 

Martha has been reading tarot for over 40 years, and teaching and running workshops since 2006. She has tutored at WEA in Tarot Levels I, II & III, since 2017. From 1980 to date (2025) Martha has owned and operated several microbusinesses and private practices and from 1991 to 2006 was an active Company Director and Personnel and Training Manager and QA Officer. From 1993 to 2006 she was a senior business lecturer, course coordinator and mentor/counsellor for the S.A. and Victorian Institutes of TAFE, Economic Development Boards and Job Network. From 1999 to 2006, Martha was a Project Development Officer (ASO 4, 5, 6, 7) for Local and State Governments and the State Mentor Coordinator for an NGO.
