Did you think that Petanque is only for the French? Well think again. Petanque is a target sport where participants throw metal balls as close as possible to a small wooden target ball called a cochonnet. It is an enjoyable, social and competitive team game that develops concentration, strategising, mindfulness and body-mind coordination. Petanque is a game for all backgrounds, ages, skills and capabilities so come along and learn from the masters of this international sport from France. All equipment, coaching and refreshments provided.

Allan Johnston from Club de Petanque

Allan Johnston has been teaching at WEA since March 2024. 

Allan retired in 2023 and has been actively involved in Club de Petanque since 2018. He is a fluent French speaker and francophile, and enjoys introducing people to Petanque and all things French.

Allan is a current Petanque player and casual coach for new players. He takes pleasure in ensuring that new participants have the correct level of equipment and are made to feel valued and welcome.

Club de Petanque welcomes people from all age groups, social, ethnic, cultural and financial backgrounds, as well as members and players from the LGBTQI+ community.
